In the recent case, X v Glasgow City Council (the Council), the Court of Session ruled that local authorities in Scotland have an absolute legal duty to provide suitable temporary accommodation for homeless households, taking into account the needs of the household. The ruling also serves as an important reminder that local authorities must comply with the duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people and with the public sector equality duty when providing suitable accommodation.

A new video resource has been launched to update the original ‘Eyes and Ears’ pocket guide resource developed for care at home workers in 2019. We're excited to be able to share details of the new lodges coming soon to Homelands ?

To tie our new lodges into the existing accommodation at Homelands, we kept to the theme of local landmarks. Our shortlist was passed to our local Lundin Mill Primary School so the pupils could cast votes for their favourites and whittle it down to the five winning names.

They chose; Emsdorf, Lundin, Largo, Selkirk and Durham. The two names with the highest votes were Lundin and Largo so we used these to name the two largest lodges.

The Highway Code: update to rules on using mobile phones

From today (25 March), rules in The Highway Code are coming into force to make any hand-held use of a mobile phone while driving illegal, except in limited circumstances.

The changes were supported by 80% of respondents in a public consultation in 2021.

I am sorry to say that I have not been feeling to well lately plus my Wife and young dog are taking up my time. My wife just got out of hospital on the 8th of December 2021 after being in hospital for 2 days short of a year. She went into hospital on the 10th of December 2020 to get a cancerous tumour removed from near the bottom of her spine, which also meant that she had to have her left leg removed, plus got a colostomy bag, a suprapubic catheter installed and a hysterectomy. Later she had a peg feeding system put in place, though this was help build her up so that she could get home. Maybe I should put get home so that she would have her family around her when the new cancerous tumour takes her live sometime in the near future.
